Victory Motorcycles plans road trip to India

Another American motorcycle manufacturer has been officially enticed by India with Polaris announcing it would sell some of its Victory line in the country as of next year.
Reportedly, Victory Motorcycles is close to completing the market analysis needed to make the decision with the company most likely ‘introducing models that would best suit the country’.
The news comes from an India website ‘Business Standard’.
According to the report, Victory Motorcycles could make their official appearance as soon as next year at a national auto trade show and exposition with the announcement of which models coming as early as the second quarter of 2012.
While there has been speculation Polaris will shop its Victory Motorcycles already assembled, this type of importation realizes higher tariffs which in turn either increases the price of the motorcycle, or lowers the profit margin for the manufacturer.
Harley-Davidson rode around this financial road hazard by building an assembly plant in Bawal, Haryana. With Victory looking the success enjoyed by their competitor of selling an average of more than two motorcycles every three days so far this year, they may just ride the same road of assembly plants and production.
In the meantime, Business Standard reports Victory Motorcycles will importing the bikes initially before setting up an assembly plant to cut costs.
