Untold motorcycle stories from the Cannonball Run
While many riders can make claim to cross-country, long-distance road trips, few can say it was completed from the saddle of a vintage motorcycle.
In its ongoing effort to bring the experiences of riding to motorcycle enthusiasts, Harley-Davidson’s Milwaukee-based museum will be hosting Bill Rodencal who will share his experiences from the recent Motorcycle Cannonball.
For over 16 days in September, Bill Rodencal, Harley-Davidson Museum Motorcycle Restorer/Conservator, joined 70 other antique motorcycle racers from Kitty Hawk, NC, to Santa Monica, CA. Reaching a top speed of 25 miles per hour on a 1914 Harley-Davidson motorcycle Rodencal and other vintage enthusiasts attempted to ride across the United States in seventeen days.

Remarkably, of the 44 1915-and-older bikes that took the green flag in Kitty Hawk , North Carolina , 40 rolled onto the pier in Santa Monica , most under their own power and some with a little help.
On October 22nd during an event hosted by Jim Fricke, H-D Museum Curatorial Director, Bill’s experiences and photographs of the motorcycles, people and places of the amazing journey that was the Motorcycle Cannonball.
