Unique motorcycle event promotes safe sex and safe driving

Motorcycle events are used for a variety of reasons, to raise money, collect toys or simply as an excuse for riders to come together over a period of days.

A recent event in India was used to spread awareness around safe sex and safe driving; understanding both shouldn’t be needed at the same time. The latest country to catch the marketing eye of motorcycle manufacturers saw 150 bikers come together in Mumbai to highlight the advantages of safe sex as well as safe driving.

"See, riding is very important and safe riding is much more important and obviously sex, you cannot just risk with that because you are risking your life also and your partner's life also. So, I guess this is an excellent message to everyone, safe sex, ride safe," a biker told reporters at the event.

The event brought out well known faces in India such as Deepa Malik, a bronze medal winner in the Paralympics in Asian Games.

"You know, when I got paralyzed, people thought that I am going to die in one room and mine is a spinal cord injury. I went on to become an international sports person, returning back with an Asian medal, the only women medal in athletics," said Malik.

"And now, joining the bike rally with a message, when we talk life, we talk AIDS. The youth tend to get tempted towards the wrong means of life and wrong means of riding. So, what we are here to promote is safe riding in terms of life and bike," she added.
