Sons of Anarchy Kurt Sutter talks about Golden Globe win

The genius behind FX’s hit motorcycle drama Sons of Anarchy, Kurt Sutter, has finally given some insight into his feelings about Katey Sagal’s Golden Globe award.

The driving force behind Sons of Anarchy and husband of Sagal was unusually quiet after she won the Best Actress in a Drama Golden Globe award Sunday night for her role as the unyielding matriarch of the most famous fictitious motorcycle gang on television.

The outspoken creator and writer had essentially chummed the media waters with comments over an apparent nomination snub by the Emmys last summer, giving many outlets and entertainment reporters the perfect side story for Katey’s deserved win.

Kurt SutterSutter noted as much on his blog ‘Sutter Ink’, ‘It's interesting that almost every article on Katey's win also mentioned my past remarks about the Golden Globes and the Emmy's.  Reviewers wondering (and hoping) if the win would fly in the face of my heated point of view.’

The thoughts about the recent Golden Globe win came from the same blog that gave the mindful Hollywood press the controversial comments last July when Sutter complained about the show being passed over for a single Emmy nomination. If the showbiz community thought Sunday night’s win would soften Sutter’s tone of the awards process, none have ever met any of the stalwart biker characters Sutter peppers his show with.

‘As far as the Emmy's... I'm sorry Solberg, my opinion remains the same.  It's an award driven by popularity, familiarity and buzz,’ Sutter wrote, continuing further in his post with, ‘And no, it will never change.  Nor do I have any constructive input to help.  So yes, I'm just ...... beefing.  Sometimes I feel like my service to the industry is to say the things that others are thinking but have too much self-control and self-respect to say out loud.’

Surely Sutter’s post makes fans of Sons of Anarchy wish even harder for September when the fourth series roars back onto television screens. His full post and remarks can be found on his blog, ‘Sutter Ink’.
