Returning champion wins custom motorcycle build in Vegas

Chris RichardsonA custom bike builder made it two in a row at the eighth annual Artistry in Iron Master Builders' Championship that was held during the national motorcycle rally at the Cashman Center in downtown Las Vegas.

Chris Richardson of LA Speed Shop in Alhambra, California won the prestigious title at the Las Vegas BikeFest.

The Artistry in Iron Master Builders' Championship is an invitation-only, peer-judged custom bike competition comprised of the world's premier builders who unveil their newest designs during the event.

This is the second year in a row that Richardson has taken the top prize at the show and awarded the $10,000 grand prize.

"The detail and creativity exhibited on Richardson's bike impressed all the participants judging the competition," said Mindi Cherry, Event Manager of Las Vegas BikeFest. 

"These are the best of the best builders in the world so the review process is extremely competitive," Cherry noted.

Chris RichardsonAmerican Cycle Magazine sponsored the competition and presented Richardson with his cash prize and a custom-designed trophy during the VIP award ceremony held for the Artistry in Iron participants.

Motorcycle enthusiasts had the opportunity to admire the Artistry in Iron custom bikes while on display for the public on Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1. 

Fans, all of whom were provided an official Autograph Program, were able to meet and take photographs with the master builders during twice-daily autograph sessions during Las Vegas BikeFest.

Richardson will receive an invitation to participate at the ninth annual Artistry in Iron competition during the 12th Annual Las Vegas BikeFest Sept. 27-30, 2012.

Having his bikes featured on the covers Easyriders, Iron Horse, Dice and Powerglide, and after earning countless awards at motorcycle shows, he is also recognized as a leading innovative builder in the industry.

"Every year, this contest surpasses my wildest expectations.  The artistry demonstrated by the builders is like nothing I have ever seen," said Richardson.  "It is truly an honor to be selected as a winner by my peers and I am completely humbled to be compared to this group of talented professionals."
