Motorcycle film festival rides into India

Easy RiderIndia may have only become the apple of motorcycle manufacturers collective eye in the last few years, but the bikers there are making up for lost time with enthusiasm.

In the latest motorcycle past time and marketing move, Harley-Davidson is hosting a biker film festival. While riders around the world had to wait years, and for some titles even decades for the different movies to appear, a three day event over five cities in India brings what many consider the best motorcycle movies together.

'Wild Hogs' and 'Motorcycle Diaries' will be shown during the Harley-Davidson Freedom Film Festival, which simultaneously opens in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chandigarh. 'Ghost Rider', 'Easy Rider' and 'Wild One' are other films included in the festival.

American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson in association with PVR Cinemas is organizing the event. As with any motorcycle event in the world, there is a charity involved.

Reportedly, proceeds from the ticket sales from all the cities will go to PVR Nest (Network of Enablement and Social Transformation), which works with disadvantaged children and a deteriorating urban environment.

“The films selected in the festival are the best of Hollywood and I am sure that our patrons will love to see them and make the festival a huge success,” Gautam Dutta, CEO, Cinemedia, PVR Ltd, said in a statement.
