Moto Guzzi taps classic motorcycle roots with limited edition

Moto Guzzi's limited edition V7 RacerIf there were ever a motorcycle manufacturer with the justification to tap into its two-wheeled history to enjoy the latest vintage design fad, it would certainly be Moto Guzzi.

The Italian motorcycle manufacturer did just that with a limited run of its V7 Racer and its special-edition with the looks and feel taken from a 1960’s catalogue and a road racing machine.

The special edition uses the V7 classic model which recalls a time in the company’s history in 1969 the Mandello del Lario mechanics increased the displacement of their transverse 90° V engine from 703 to 757cc which greatly increased the performance without diminishing the great reputation of reliability and sturdiness that was behind the success of the V7.

Moto Guzzi offered the bike on a made-to-order basis with dealers reportedly only taking orders through Monday Febraury 28th.

Special features include a red frame with the swing arm and wheel hubs also taking on the racing color. The motorcycle’s one-person saddle is covered in suede and the Limited-Edition V7 Racer has an adjustable rear suspension with dual reservoir-style shock absorbers that recall racing-bike suspensions of the 1970s and early 1980s.

Earlier pictures of the special edition featured handmade, brushed aluminum parts, chrome tank with a leather strap and high-end brakes and suspension, courtesy of Brembo, Marzocchi and Bitubo.

Other features include;

A red frame that was inspired by the earliest V7 Sport models

The black fuel tank matches the front and rear fenders, seat cover and wheels. The tankis finished with a leather strap that runs along the center of the tank.

Aluminum side covers, throttle body covers, and muffler bracket

Silver wire spoke wheels and black rims highlight the red wheel hubs

Suede solo saddle

Custom billet aluminum adjustable rearsets

Front suspension is a 40mm Marzocchi front fork with rubber bellows

Fully-adjustable, twin Bitubo remote reservoir rear shocks

The braking system uses a 320mm floating front disc with fixed four-piston Brembo caliper and a 260mm rear disc.

Pirelli Demon Sport tires

The V7 Racer is powered by the same fuel-injected 744cc 90-degree V-Twin engine as the V7 Classic

Suggested retail price is $9,790.
