While it may have not been to the standard of having your basketball jersey placed among other sports legends or number retired, in the motorcycle world last Sunday's commemoration was certainly notable.

Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) was recognized last Sunday by American Suzuki when the motorcycle manufacturer presented National Guard Jordan Suzuki team with a framed, limited edition poster at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. The poster commemorates the team’s first Superbike win and sweep of both Superbike races during the first round of the 2010 AMA Pro National Guard American Superbike Championship held at Daytona International Speedway in early March.

Legendary NBA star Michael Jordan formed Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) in 2004 as a result of his passion for motorcycle racing.  His mission is to bring a new level of excellence and style to the motorcycle racing industry. 

The commemorative poster was presented by American Suzuki’s Pat Alexander to the National Guard Jordan Suzuki team including National Guard Jordan Suzuki’s rider, Jake Zemke, National Guard Sergeant John Metzler; Team Manager, Pete Mauhar; Technical Manager, Rich Alexander; and Business Manager, Kreig Robinson.

The limited edition poster was part of a small run that were sent to Suzuki dealers around the country. The 54 limited edition pieces were run on a special stock and hand numbered. The number “1” piece was presented to the team on Sunday. The number “23” piece will go to team owner Michael Jordan and number “54” will be presented to the National Guard at a later date.

National Guard Jordan Suzuki’s Jake Zemke leads the 2010 AMA Pro National Guard American Superbike Championship by 11 points after four races of the 19- race series. The 2010 Michael Jordan Motorsports team’s next event is the Superbike Showdown at Road Atlanta in Braselton, GA on April 16-18, 2010.
