Jay Leno coming to Sturgis motorcycle event

One of the most famous celebrities associated with motorcycles will be making an appearance at the legendary biker event, Sturgis.

But the famous face won’t be singing on stage or building the latest custom creation. Late night talk show host Jay Leno will arrive in Sturgis this upcoming weekend to help celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Famous for his humor and well-known guests, Leno is known in automotive and motorcycle circles as a hard-core enthusiast, owning a 17,000 square feet garage is stuffed with a mouth-watering collection of machines.

While his downtime may be spent eyeing up some new purchases, the official reason for Leno’s visit is to cover Pee-wee Herman’s visit to The Legendary Buffalo Chip on August 8th and 9th 2010.

As covered previously on Clutch and Chrome, Pee-wee Herman will officially kick off The Chip’s festivities at Sturgis, where the estimated attendance is expected at over 650,000 riders, by leading tens of thousands of bikers in the World’s Largest Tequila Dance.

Aside from that unexpected and unusual start to the Sturgis festivities campground owner Rod Woodruff is unsure of exactly what the The Tonight Show will be covering.

“Pee-Wee is going to cram a lot of activity into his two days at the Buffalo Chip,” Rod Woodruff notes, “And, we’re of course delighted that The Tonight Show will be here to let the world know about his adventures here at the Buffalo Chip during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.”

This past winter in Los Angeles, Pee-wee Herman came back to life with a stunning new production of “The Pee-wee Herman Show” that met with rave reviews by critics and fans of all ages. His unique appearance at the well-known campground has many curious and certainly intrigued.

Jay Leno in his famous garage

Speaking of intriguing, after a short time at an earlier timeslot Jay Leno has recently geared-up the return of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” which successfully premiered on Monday, March 1, 2010.

The new late-night TV show includes many of the features that have made Leno a talk show host leader for more than a dozen years including the return of “Headlines,” “Jaywalking” and “Battle of Jaywalking All-Stars.”

Past Jay Leno shows have also included classic motorcycles, motorcycle racers and motorcycling events. For several years Leno would have guests sign a motorcycle over a period of time which would eventually be auctioned with the proceeds going to charity. He was also the famous face leading the legendary Love Ride for many years.

As for the celebrity Leno is coming to cover.

“Before I made Big Adventure I didn’t know much about bikers,” Pee-wee Herman said, “During the filming of that movie I realized that bike enthusiasts are freedom-loving Americans with hearts of gold– and sometimes a lot of tattoos and leather!”
