Infineon Raceway opens track to everyday motorcycle enthusiasts
Some may call it motorcycle marketing while others could say its the opportunity of a lifetime.
Riders will be able to take their motorcycles around the world famous Infineon Raceway for price of admission to another upcoming event. Located in the southern Sonoma Mountains near Sonoma, California, Infineon Raceway is a 2.52 miles road course with a complex series of twists and turns that go up and down the hills, making it ideal for motorcycle racing.
And it is being called 'Motorcycle madness' with race fans being invited to the 5th annual Two-Wheel Thunder on Friday as part of the two-day test session being held on April 1st and 2nd. Several racing teams from the AMA Pro Road Racing circuit, including Graves Yamaha, Yoshimura Suzuki and Jordan Suzuki will be there for test sessions being held in advance of the West Coast Moto Jam, scheduked to take place on May 14-16.
Where Infineon are calling the event madness, riders who enjoy flexing their perfomance motorcycle muscle could see the latest offer as an opportunity.
The raceway is featuring a one-day ticket offer for the West Coast Moto Jam allowing riders who purchase a ticket on April 2 to take a lap around the world-famous road course on their motorcycle following testing. Admission to Two-Wheel Thunder itself is freeand will also include an AMA rider Q&A session at lunch and Supermoto USA demonstrations.
AMA riders expected to attend the test session include San Francisco native Jake Zemke and Aaron Yates, both from Jordan Suzuki. Zemke was a double-winner at Daytona (Fla.) in the Superbike class earlier this month. Graves Yamaha will be represented by Daytona 200 winner Josh Herrin, as well as Josh Hayes and Tommy Aquino. Tommy Hayden and Blake Young, both with Yoshimura Suzuki, will also take part in the two-day test.
There are also tentative plans for an electric motorcycle demonstration at the lunch break on April 2. The raceway will host the TTXGP U.S. Championships as part of the West Coast Moto Jam, it will be the first-ever zero-carbon motorcycle race in the United States.
The raceway hopes to have a few of these motorcycles on display at the test session.
