Indian Motorcycles promises prototypes and limitied editions for Sturgis

If there was ever a phrase to catch the ear of a motorcycle enthusiast, it would be limited edition.

Following in the biker urge to ride something completely different from everything else on the road, Indian Motorcycles will showcase a limited edition design at the upcoming Sturgis rally.

New for the 2011 line-up, the Indian Blackhawk will be introduced to ‘a few hundred thousand close friends’ at Sturgis this week according to the revived motorcycle manufacturer. Promising to come loaded ‘with unique Indian features and adds inspired Art Deco styling to the classic Indian look for a new and entirely breath-taking limited-edition design’.

2011 Indian Blackhawk limited edition

Among the features;

Functional "Bikini" Front Fairing

Removable Hard Saddle Bags

Aerodynamic cowl & integrated backrest

Optional Garmin 665 GPS, Lowered seat height by 1.0"

New Brembo brake system

Special paint & graphics (including a 110 badge marking Indian's 110th Anniversary)

New Michelin Commander II Tires - introduced exclusively on the Blackhawk.

As if the 2011 Indian Blackhawk (reportedly selling for $29,999) wasn’t enough to tempt the adventurous rider, the North Carolina motorcycle manufacturer is promising to show an all-new Indian concept and prototype machine.

The legendary motorcycle event in South Dakota kicks off on August 9th to celebrate its 70th Anniversary.

I test drove a darkhorse on sunday. It rides much smoother than my fatboy 2010, easier shift, softer brakes, incredible.

I agree with Duke. I have ridden one at a dealer grand opening. These are not bikes made of aftermarket parts and to ride one is to know these guys are serious about their product. While I can't afford the price tag now, it will come down more later, it already has over the lat year.

Thumbs up from me.

No aftermarket here, visited the plant and test drove the new chief and blackhawk. 100% American made, while most of harley's parts come from mexico or china. You gotta test drive one. Sold the harley, bought a Cheif and just bought the Blackhawk as well...
