Honda's motorcycle sales ride through mixed weather

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda didn’t feel the love from North America or Europe, but certainly enjoyed themselves in the rest of the world.

At least that’s what can be read in the 2010 production numbers for motorcycles recently released.

While many manufacturers saw an increase in the number of motorcycles sold, Honda’s results had the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer with fewer in North American and Europe. In North America, which includes Mexico 192,000 were sold in 2010 compared to 210,000 in 2009.

For Europe, which includes the Middle East and Africa the numbers were very close; 258,000 in 2010 compared to 261,000 in 2009.

The rest of the world saw improved performance setting a new record for Asia with a staggering 14,378,000 sold, increasing from 11,702,000 the year before. Before American riders imagine streets of Goldwings and Fury’s it is important to note the numbers didn’t break out the categories of motorcycles sold. Many motorcycle manufacturers include lower sized engine motorcycles and mopeds in said category, both of which have large market shares where the smaller rides are considered everyday transportation.

Honda improved on their two-wheeled sales at home with 196,000 sold in 2010 compared to 181,000 the year before.
