Isle of Man's historic motorcycle race rides out in 3D
Motorcycle enthusiasts may find themselves in the theater for some much needed two-wheeled action in April for the premier of the latest movie to document the thrills and spill of the Isle of Man racing series.
But what they are also witness to is a slice of cinema history.
‘TT3D: Closer To The Edge’ is a film about the TT, the world-famous motorcycle race that takes place on the Isle of Man every year. It’s announced release date of April 15th not only prepares riders for a new look at a classic racing series but lays out the movies destiny with history.
The movie will be the world’s first feature film sports documentary in 3D.
By vividly recounting the TT's legendary rivalries and the Isle of Man's unique road racing history, this 3D feature documentary follows why modern TT riders still risk their lives to win the world's most dangerous race.
The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy is the greatest motorcycle road race in the world, the ultimate challenge for rider and machine. It has always called for a commitment far beyond any other racing event, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice in their quest for victory.Featuring roaring motorcycles racing along public roads just inches apart at speeds hitting 200mph, the documentary promises drama, tension and tragedy, all coming together to thrill the audience and tell a very moving human story.
Producers of the documentary are CinemaNX who were given unique behind-the-scenes access to the races and the lives of the riders who compete to be ‘King of the Mountain’.

The film follows the leading riders taking part in the 2010 race, in particular Guy Martin and Ian Hutchinson. Martin is a lovable rogue who doesn’t play by the rules, but his determination to win his first race pushes him to the limit. Hutchinson is dedicated, focused and works hard to stay at the top. The film is about their battle to become the ultimate rider in the most dramatic and record-breaking year in TT history.
Historically, motorcycle documentaries have enjoyed famous voices in the saddle as a narrator and TT3D is no different. Actor and singer Jared Leto (pictured left) reportedly signed on after seeing an early cut of the film.
Leto gained fame during his role as Jordan Catalano in ‘My So-Called Life’and has appeared in films such as ‘Fight Club’, ‘Girl, Interrupted’, ‘Panic Room’ and ‘American Psycho’. He is also known for being the front man of the American rock band 30 Seconds to Mars.

TT3D: Closer to the Edge is directed by Richard de Aragues, is produced by Steve Christian and Marc Samuelson and was shot and will be released in 3D.
