British Prince rents Harley for motorcycle getaway
It seems that even British royalty want to live the American-motorcycle riding dream with Harley-Davidson getting a royal nod when none other Prince Harry rented what appears to be a Softail Deluxe.
While the British Prince may enjoy his motorcycles on the sportier side when riding in England, he went the way of an American classic for his recent visit to Arizona. He is reportedly among 20 students in the British Army participating in a two-month military helicopter training course in the U.S.
The training started at the Naval Air Facility at El Centro, California, where students flew Apache helicopters in the desert near the Mexican border. In Arizona, they are firing missiles, rockets and cannons from the helicopters.
It was earlier this week though when Prince Harry arrived with his Royal entourage at Hacienda Harley-Davidson located in Scottsdale. Most of the Prince’s crowd was security-related with a few friends. Wanting to rent a motorcycle to ride into Las Vegas, about six hours away, the dealership’s rental manager worked with Prince Harry to find the right ride.
"He's just a regular 27-year-old guy," said Dan Dvorak, the dealership's rental manager, in an interview with The Associated Press.
"Mild-mannered. Excited to be on a Harley," Dvorak noted.
Dvorak said the prince has a motorcycle license in the U.K., but completed a test drive on a 1600cc bike before officials set him and his entourage loose on American highways.
"He definitely knew what he was doing," Dvorak said.
"He joked around with his entourage," the rental manager said, "He was really polite and really excited to go for a ride, like any other 27-year-old…when he rode off, he was an experienced rider."

In England, Prince Harry owns a Ducati 848 and a classic Triumph. His brother, Prince William owns a Ducati 1198.
Wearing a half-helmet, jeans and bandana, Prince Harry rented the motorcycle for a one-way trip and booked the Deluxe for twenty-four hours.
While in Las Vegas, the prince rented a room at the Wynn Hotel, took in a Cirque du Soleil production, a performance of the water-themed "O", considered by some as the best of the seven Cirque shows in town.
