That isn’t a typo, Honda Vietnam celebrated building its 20 millionth motorcycle after twenty years of continuous production at its factory in Ha Nam Province.
To put this into perspective, taking the biggest year of production Harley-Davidson enjoyed in recent history and extending it over twenty years only adds up to seven million motorcycles. Admittedly, the models built tend to be scooters and motorcycles with smaller engines which replace owning a car, but the number is still staggering.
A 125 cc ‘Air Blade’ was the 20 millionth motorcycle produced by the manufacturer, cruising a well-ridden, successful road. Honda Vietnam celebrated the production of its five-millionth motorcycle in July 2008, the 10-millionth in September 2011, and the 15-millionth in March 2014. The company managed to produce an additional five million units within a short two-and-a-half years to reach the total of 20 million motorcycles produced.
Honda Vietnam commenced operations in 1996 and produced the first motorcycle in December 1997. During the 20 years of business, Honda Vietnam has strengthened its production facilities and motorcycle business activities through the operation of three motorcycle factories, a parts center, and various workshops.
Honorable guests from government attended the ceremony celebrating the 20 millionth motorcycle, including Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the People’s Council of Ha Nam Province.
