Motorcycles Are Sales Highlight For BMW In March

German automotive giant has one bright spot in its March vehicle sales thanks to a robust interest in BMW Motorrad’s motorcycles.

"It's been a tumultuous first quarter of the year for business in the U.S. with plenty of volatility even in the premium vehicle segment," said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America.

However, the company’s two-wheeled heroics comes with sales of BMW motorcycles increasing 19.6 percent in March with 1,931 motorcycles sold compared to the 1,614 sold in March 2015.

The S 1000 RR was once again the best-selling model with 254 deliveries compared to 219 this time last year, helping S-Series volumes grow by 51%.  Ever since the models introduction 2014, it's caught the eye of riders who enjoy performance.

Other popular rides for the German motorcycle manufacturer, with 249 sales compared to 178 this time last year, the R 1200 GS Adventure helped drive growth of 38% in boxer models.

This adventure model could be enjoying the latest upgrades to its 2016 model. These include new paint finishes and the banking-optimized ABS Pro feature. A special model, the BMW R 1200 GS TripleBlack was also released for 2016, bringing this top-selling motorcycle in a virtually all-black finish.

The central fuel tank cover, fuel tank side panels and front mudguard in Black storm metallic together with black anodized fork slider tubes give the legendary travel enduro a strikingly masculine touch. Powerful technical accentuations are provided by the front and rear frame in Agate Grey in combination with the engine, gearbox and swinging arm.

The special model is fitted with the cross-spoke wheels with black gloss rim base familiar from the R 1200 GS Adventure, previously available as a special equipment feature.
