Going
the Extra Mile:
Insider Tips for Long-Distance Motorcycling and Endurance
Rallies
Ron Ayres
It
seems every rider at some point in his life
wants to head out on the open highway and see the country from
the seat of a motorcycle saddle. It doesn't even have to be to
one of the many rallies that seem to get bigger every year,
I've met riders at Toy Runs that rode further to get there
than they did on the run itself! And who hasn't picked an
obscure point out on a map and dreamed about riding there? But
anyone who's put in a long day of riding or even been caught
in a bad weather front has had the fantasy crashing back to
reality.
This book helps make the dream that much more
achievable by setting realistic expectations and collecting
advice from long-distance motorcycle travel veterans. With
tips and advice on everything from what to wear, customizing
your motorcycle for comfort, the latest gadgets that help
alertness as well as developing good riding habits. It’s
geared to let the rider spend more time in the saddle and less
time waiting at the next rest stop, making that next long trip
fun, safe, and comfortable.
Any rider
that’s taken one of these long trips, or has at least thought
about it will find this book very useful. Hats off to
Whitehorse for offering a diverse range of motorcycle books
but I'd recommend that next time the publisher springs for all
color photos in the next edition of this title instead of the
numerous black and white ones found in this one.
