Custom
Choppers:
The Art of the American Motorcycle
DVD
2005 / GO-KART
RECORDS
Length: 60 minutes
Filmed
mostly during the annual Bike Week in Daytona Florida, one of
the largest motorcycle rallies in the United States, the
documentary introduces viewers to some of the famous names in
the custom motorcycle world. Custom building legends such as
Arlen Ness and Mike Corbin have their screen time with some
saying exactly what’s been said before while others will
certainly raise an eyebrow with some comments. Also
interviewed are current market leaders Paul Yaffe, Roger
Bourget, and Eddie Trotta, as well as maverick motorcycle
philosopher J.T. Nesbitt, chief designer of revolutionary
Confederate Motorcycles
Not
only does the film also offer a history of how this
subculture began and developed over the years, it includes
a look into the lives of the builders, their companies,
and their different philosophies.
The DVD
is just over a year old which means the interviews were
actually filmed in 2004. This may not be the most current
for avid amateur custom builders, but it’s very well
produced and a full 60 minutes of great looking
motorcycles.
A
perfect DVD to have on the shelf for those rainy,
ride-less days.
