Pavement Surfing
Being thrown from your bike and skidding along the

Nickname for the Exhaust System.
Pistons
The mechanical parts moving up and down inside the
cylinder.
Plastic Fantastic
Nickname for Sportbikes taken from the excessive amount of
plastic used in the design.
Plugs
Motorcycles spark plugs.
PMS
Parked Motorcycle Syndrome
Poker Run
An organized group ride with pre-arranged stops where
riders draw a playing card. If the rider doesn't keep the
card an organizer makes a note of what was drawn. This
repeated over five stops with the last stop comparing
every riders 'hand'. The best hand wins! Usually done as a
charity ride to raise money.

Refers to the intake and exhaust valve openings
Poser
Nickname for folks who dress in riding gear all the
time, wear nothing but branded apparel but rarely ride,
even if they own a motorcycle at all. Also called a
biker wannabe.
Harley-Davidson is mostly associated with this
reference, but the Ducati brand is making it's
appearance on wannabe bikers everywhere.

Pot
Nickname for the carburetor
Powerband
A certain range of RPM during which the engine produces
most of its power.
Power Shower
Riding in the rain with anything other than a full face
helmet or raingear.
Pre-Ignition
Happens when the intake charge is ignited too early. The
combustion pressure exerted can damage or destroy the
engine. Also see Detonation.
Primary Drive
The drive system which connects the engines crankshaft to
it's clutch and onto the transmission.
Prospect
A prospective member for a motorcycle club/gang.
Protein Facial
When something hits a rider who doesn't have a windshield.
Pucker factor
Used to describe a close call.
Pushrod System
System where the cams are located below the cylinder
heads, pushing on the rocker arms.
Pull
The ability to accelerate |
