A law firm known for taking an interest in motorcycle safety is teaming up with a rider recently featured in the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame to promote a safety awareness campaign.

Marking an important reminder for all motorists to share the road during the upcoming 4th of July holiday weekend, the law firm of Hupy & Abraham, S.C. is teaming up with former Wisconsin State Senator Dave Zien and a remarkable motorcycle journey.

"It is our hope that everyone enjoys a safe riding season in 2009 and that motorists share the road with motorcyclists," said Attorney Michael F. Hupy. "With even more people on the road during holidays such as the 4th of July, it is especially important for everyone on the road to be aware and take responsibility for their actions."

The former Senator made motorcycle headlines in April after completing one million miles on the same Harley-Davidson, earning a world record from the Iron Butt Association, an international group that oversees and governs safe, long-distance motorcycle riding challenges.

To get to a million miles, he refurbished or overhauled the engine nine times, installed two new engines and went through 105 rear tires and nine seats.

Zien, who has managed to break 118 motorcycle riding records on his 1991 Harley-Davidson FXRT will begin his latest motorcycle journey to achieve yet another riding record. Making the first major trip on his new Harley-Davidson motorcycle this weekend, Zien will ride from Key West, Florida to Proudhon Bay, Alaska and back within 11 days.

The long distance rider knows a little something about putting down the miles. In 2003, he rode 31,000 miles in 31 days leading up to Harley's 100th anniversary party in Milwaukee as well as winning an award from the Iron Butt Association for riding 1,500 miles in 24 hours.

Zien will be departing from Key West at 4:00 a.m. on July 4 for his 11-day journey to Proudhon Bay and will be traveling over 1,000 miles per day. Those interested can visit the Hupy & Abraham Web site to view a live map tracking Dave Zien's progress on his latest ride.
