Ducati dealers show off custom motorcycles

January 12th, 2009

Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has opened up voting, allowing the public to decide which dealership has put together the best customization of the latest Monster 1100S.

Ducati gave dealers across North America mere days to customize their entries with the final products found here on the company's website. The contest is in honor of the premiere of the 1100S, which weighs in at an astonishing 47lbs less than its closest class competitor but it’s powerhouse of a 1100cc air-cooled engine gives it an impressive power-to-weight ratio. The M1100 S combines the carnal nakedness of the original Monster with the latest technology and styling.

Looking to encourage riders to customize the new model, features like removable tank panels make the M1100 S the perfect platform for personalization.

The ‘S’ features fully adjustable 43mm titanium nitride coated Öhlins forks and rising rate linkage Öhlins rear shock absorber with adjustable pre-load and return damping. Front brake disc carriers in aluminum help reduce rotating mass, while carbon fiber cam belt covers, silencer guards and front fender reduce weight by a further 1kg (2.2lb).

The public can vote for the most creative and unique customization until Friday January 16th.
