A lucky rider
is one new motorcycle richer and a charity enjoys much
needed funds after efforts by a dealership and many
big-hearted bikers.
Bob’s BMW announced the
results of the fundraising efforts by the dealership and its
customers in support of the
Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s
Ride for Kids® event in Columbia, MD.
After the Baltimore/DC Ride for Kids® was held on September
21st, Bob Henig, avid supporter of the Ride for Kids® for
over 14 years and owner of Bob's BMW was announced as the
top fundraising motorcycle business, with $106,437 in
Ultimate Bike Raffle ticket sales and customer
contributions. Henig created the Ultimate Bike Raffle and
with the support of many reputable vendors, local businesses
and BMW North America, a remarkable 3,284 tickets were sold
to customers and supporters around the country. Of those,
449 were sold as individual tickets, and 2,829 were sold as
the special 3-ticket $100 ROAD CREW T-shirt package, which
was designed specifically for this raffle fundraiser.
The Ultimate Bike Raffle drawing was held on October 4th
during the annual Oktoberfest event at the dealership. The
winning tickets were drawn by brain tumor survivors Bobby
Deitz and Ethan Gumaby. Bob’s BMW customer, Allen
Blankenship from New York won a complete package consisting
of a fully equipped new BMW F800GS motorcycle, head-to-toe
riding apparel, rider training and many other accessories,
with a total value of approximately $19,000. Twenty four
second place winners will receive prizes of riding gear,
apparel and accessories from top aftermarket suppliers.
Information on the raffle, winning prizes, recipients and
contributing vendors will be continuously updated on the
Ultimate Bike Raffle web site.
“One of the great challenges of fighting children’s diseases
is the lack of funds for research at both the Federal and
philanthropic level. But Bob Henig of Bob’s BMW in Jessup,
MD is one man who means business when it comes to saving the
lives of children faced with brain tumors. Over the past 14
years Bob, his employees and his motorcycle customers have
worked diligently through the Ride for Kids® motorcycle
charity program to help children with brain tumors by
raising over $540,000 to support the research programs of
the
Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
It has been said that a man never stands so tall as when he
stoops to help a child. In our eyes, Bob Henig is one very
tall man,” stated Mike Traynor, President of the Pediatric
Brain Tumor Foundation. Not only has Henig and Bob’s BMW
raised the largest individual and dealership amounts for the
last several years in the Baltimore-Washington ride, he is
one of the highest individual fundraisers in Ride for Kids®
history.
Since 1984, the national Ride for Kids® program and PBTF
have promoted childhood brain tumor research and provided
family support through free literature about brain tumors,
educational newsletters, online conferences and college
scholarships. With the help of America's motorcyclists and
motorcycle dealers, PBTF has become the world's largest
non-governmental source of funding for childhood brain tumor
research.
Bob’s BMW Motorcycles is known as one of the largest, most
respected BMW motorcycle dealerships in North America, and
the winner of several awards for overall dealer excellence,
customer satisfaction, and community service. Bob's
impressive superstore, convenient to riders throughout the
Washington DC, Baltimore, and Northern Virginia region, is
the destination of choice for all motorcycle enthusiasts
from far and wide.
