While eyes of the two-wheeled world maybe focused on
Milwaukee for that little get together a certain American
motorcycle manufacturer has thrown together, a rally in
Vermont is marking its own notable moment.
This will be the first year the
Killington Classic
Motorcycle Rally has been organized by the local Chamber of
Commerce in its six years of taking place. Previously
produced by Kev-Marv Productions, Kevin and Lou-Ann Clement
are publicly thanked on the rally's website for their assistance and support in helping the Killington Chamber of Commerce produce the Killington Classic.
Kicking off with a welcome party on Thursday September
4th, the Killington Classic Motorcycle Rally promises a
State Fair, Casino night, pig roast, 12 mile grand parade
ride and of course a classic motorcycle contest.
The Grand Parade is an escorted 12 mile ride along Route 4 from Killington to Rutland. Each year, thousands of Rutland residents turn out to greet riders along the route. Rutland reserves its downtown streets for
motorcycle parking only.
As with some of its larger rally cousins, Killington
Classic offers up self-guided rides through the countryside
of Vermont.
- Vermont Village Sampler
is a beautiful ride through many of Vermont’s small, picturesque, and historic villages including Grafton, “One of America’s top 10 most beautiful destinations”.
- Rock of Ages Tour features miles of " motorcyclist's dream roads", traveling down little known back country, yet paved, roads, through the center of farms and
rolling countryside with a destination of the famous Rock of Ages Quarry in Graniteville, Vermont.
- Bennington Ramble Tour follows Vermont’s rambling streams and shimmering lakes through forests and farms to Manchester, Vermont, where stunning views on winding country roads
leading to the
Bennington Battle Monument
(pictured right).
A veterans ride and surprise ride are also planned for
the four day event.
