Motorcycles not welcome in Atlanta's new Urban utopia

It seems the motorcycle isn't part of the vision for an Urban utopia being built in the metro Atlanta area in the state of Georgia.

The development Atlantic Station, describes itself as 'the national model for smart growth and sustainable development. Picture a community with unsurpassed architectural quality, a fusion of functionality and finesse that combines an attractive mix of affordable, middle-income, and up-scale housing with world-class restaurants, theaters, and retailers'.

The roads running near the homes, retail shops and entertainment are open to local traffic, unless it happens to be on two wheels.

Atlantic Station officials say they took action after facing ongoing problems and complaints of engine noise, claiming riders don't 'abide by the code of conduct down here'. Officials started telling motorcyclists about the change last month and will soon post signs and start ticketing violators. Bikers are being directed to park behind a large retail store or on the side streets surrounding Atlantic Station.
