More
information about a revolutionary motorcycle was revealed at
the Tokyo Motorcycle Show.
Honda's new
DN-01 (whose name is an acronym for "New Dream") is a sleek-looking, next generation large sports cruiser
and will be available in 4 different model packages; Touring Package, Tandem Package, Dress-up Package and the
Premium Package.
Honda is
proud of the DN-01's automatic Human-Friendly Transmission (HFT)
which promises a higher degree of comfort and driving
performance. The company has also highlighted a "HMD" (Honda
Motorcycle Data) key with a built-in IC chip, newly adopted
as the main key of the DN-01.
Data stored
on the IC chip can be read using a custom key reader that is
connected to the DN-01 dealer information network system,
and when the key is shown to the dealer, information about
the motorcycle such as the maintenance history can be
immediately confirmed. Honda hopes this will allow customers
the opportunity to receive consistent, quality service at
any DN-01 dealer. Most industry experts feel if Honda has
any plans to release the model in the United States, it would be
most likely announced at the dealer teleconference this fall
giving dealers the opportunity to place orders for 2009. |
