Bikers are
known for helping those in need and a famous motorcycle
apparel manufacturer is furthering that reputation.
Von
Dutch Originals and the humanitarian relief agency Operation
USA have joined in partnership to create awareness and
financial support for the victims of Cyclone Nargis in
Myanmar (Burma).
As the
reality of the devastation resulting from the powerful
cyclone that hit the Irwaddy Delta in Myanmar last weekend
is starting to come to light, some officials are estimating
that the death toll may exceed 100,000. The problem of
getting relief to the people of this isolated country is
becoming more and more urgent.
Von Dutch Originals
is an international fashion label with a classic
rebel attitude rooted in "Kustom Kulture," popularized by
America's great motorcycle, Hot Rod and Rock and Roll
culture. Von Dutch Originals is built on the spirit of
'freedom, style, sex, power and motion.' Von Dutch Originals
is headquartered in Los Angeles, CA.
Von Dutch Originals and Operation USA, raised more than
$100,000 of relief funds in response to the deadly Tsunami
of 2004, have announced the creation of an exclusive,
fund-raising t-shirt, with funds going directly to the
growing relief effort. "The news coming out of Myanmar of
the extent of the damage and human suffering caused by
Cyclone Nargis is deeply saddening," says Von Dutch
Originals founder and CEO Tonny Sorensen, "and making a
contribution through selling cause based apparel is a way
that we as a fashion company can offer some measure of
help."
The t-shirts
are available for purchase exclusively at the VonDutch
website, and at it's stores
in Los Angeles and New York for USD$39. All profits will
directly fund emergency medial supplies and medical care
through Operation USA's disaster response program.
For the past
25 years,
Operation USA's dedication
to assisting developing communities both in the US and
abroad, has garnered an international reputation for
efficiency and speed. From health and education programs to
