Adding further
evidence car drivers may be turning to motorcycles during
these times of high gas prices, CycleTrader.com announced an 82.4% increase in traffic during April
compared to the same month last year in a press release.
CycleTrader.com, the nation’s leading motorcycle classified advertising site and a division of Dominion Enterprises,
claim that more than two million motorcycle enthusiasts
visited the site in April and the website also experienced a 46.8% increase in unique visitors from the
previous year. The site, with more than 170,000 motorcycles
for sale, also consistently achieved over 800,000 page views
per day, a 16.8% increase from the previous year.
“These milestones are a direct reflection of the strategic
improvements we have made to CycleTrader.com, the
implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan, and the
introduction of value-added newsletters, blogs and
additional cycle-relevant content,” said Jim Jensen, brand
manager for Cycle Trader. “We are pleased to see that these
improvements have resulted in increased traffic and value
for our customers.”
On average, visitors to CycleTrader.com are spending 6.3%
more time on the site compared to the same time last year.
Additionally, 35% revisit the site at least twice during the
month.
Recent news stories from across the country report drivers
buying inexpensive motorcycle for daily commutes or longer
trips, using the bikes better gas mileage to battle rising
prices at the pump.
Officials at
the website also feel the increase in visitors can be
attributed to improvements to CycleTrader.com, including allowing the
major search engines to crawl and index individual ads. This
has resulted in a notable increase in both first-time and
casual buyers to CycleTrader.com. This coupled with the
site’s zip code locater, helps buyers find exactly what they
are looking for – in their area – in seconds.
While the motorcycle industry has seen a downturn in sales
of new units in the first quarter,
NADAguides.com reports
that “Motorcycle buying interest is up 48% in March 2008
compared to March 2007.” This continued interest in
motorcycles makes CycleTrader.com the place to buy and sell
motorcycles. “In a tightening market, dealers are looking
for any advantage they can muster in order to move their
inventory. Showcasing every bike on CycleTrader.com is the
most cost effective way to position their inventory in front
of a growing number of interested buyers,” said Jensen.
