Laughlin motorcycle rally numbers; fewer people but less arrests too

The official
numbers are in from the 26th annual Laughlin River Run
motorcycle rally that just wrapped up on Sunday in Nevada.
The event
drew a smaller crowd than usual with attendance estimated at
60,000 people, but there were also fewer arrests. Two
motorcyclists were killed during the event.
Other legal
numbers from the Nevada motorcycle event;

arrests during the four-day event
- 524
traffic citations were issued
- 8
juveniles were arrested or ticketed for violating a 6
p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew on people under 18
Most
categories were less than half of last years numbers with
police being drawn from Nevada, Arizona and California.
Police set up vehicle checkpoints and closely monitoried the
rally after three people were killed and more than a dozen
were injured in a 2002 brawl and shoot-out between Hells
Angels and rival Mongols motorcycle gang members at the
Harrah's Laughlin casino. |
