Australia's recent
crackdown on what the government considers motorcycle gangs
is having a worrying affect on the country's youth, and
no-one is more concerned than the biker gangs themselves.
Lawyers for different
motorcycle gangs have expressed concerns that they are
unable to control the youths interested in joining the clubs
and it's worrying older members.
The kids are fascinated
with the thought of being considered outlaws, according to
lawyers for the Hells Angels, Rebels, Gypsy Jokers and
Finks, and are bringing the criminal behavior of the
street gangs from their prior 'lives' to the motorcycle
gangs.
Police officials confirm
the connection noting a number of street gang members have
progressed onto membership in outlaw motorcycle gangs.
However, officials also support even stricter laws being
considered which brings prison sentences for people
associating with motorcycle gangs. Under the new laws,
outlaw motorcycle clubs can also be declared illegal
organizations. |
