Motorcycle
riding nurse eliminated in American Idol shocker
By the Staff of Clutch and

March 20th, 2008
It was a Wednesday night so it
had to be
an elimination round on American Idol, but would the show be
good to the motorcycle riding nurse from Indiana, Amanda
Overmyer?
There's something about
the number ten in the world of lists and popularity
rankings. One more contestant had to be eliminated for Fox's
American Idol to come to that magical number Wednesday
night.
After an energetic
performance of 'Back in the USSR' that scored well with the
audience but didn't fair so well the judges Tuesday night,
media critics had Amanda Overmyer picked as one of the most
likely to go.
In usual torturous Fox
fashion, contestants were brought onto the stage one by one
with a conversational recap of their performance from the
night before. Some would be directed to the larger group of
chairs while those landing in the bottom of the voting pool were asked to
sit in one of three stools on the opposite side of the
stage.
Aside from moving onto the
next round of the contest, those that made the top ten will
go on the American Idol tour.
The bottom three ended up a surprising mix of Carly Smithson, Kristy Lee Cook
and Amanda Overmyer.
Very few expected to see
Carly Smithson in the bottom three to begin with, so there
was no revelation when she was allowed to join the popular
table. The shocker came when
Kristy Lee Cook squeaked by with the votes, leaving our
very own rock and roll nurse to take that long final walk
off the American Idol stage.
