Rocking motorcycle nurse survives American Idol elimination

Amanda Overmyer has probably had less
close calls on her Harley-Davidson motorcycle than she did
last night facing elimination on American Idol.
Overmyer who sang,
'Please Don't Go' Wednesday was asked to stand along side
Joanne Borgella in the show's second set of eliminations
last night.

Borgella and Overmyer were
called to the stage, with everyone else being told they’d be
back next week without ever getting out their chairs.
The previous night on that same stage Amanda impressed all
three judges, even Simon who confessed, "I think you're a
very good singer," and he hopes she stays around for a very
long time.
Randy called her a "Bluesy
rocker chick."
Exhibiting the truest
definition of a biker, Paula said Amanda gave off the
feeling that "It doesn't matter what people say."
She was a refreshing moment
in a sea of nerves and lackluster songs from seemingly
previous talented singers who couldn't quite find their
stage feet.
As she stood during the
elimination round, waiting through the requisite commercial
break, Amanda Overmyer had to be wondering if this was
divine retribution for her pulling in front of a truck and
getting t-boned right before the Hollywood round. But
perhaps her Wednesday night apology to that unknown truck
driver was all the karma she needed to advance, because
Borgella got the bad news instead.
“That’s a lesson learned … you can’t blow your way through
it. We’ve heard you better,” Simon Cowell said, as the
camera cut to the traditional scene of all the other female
contestants crying.
For those keeping a score
card, the women eliminated were Joanne Borgella and Amy
Davis. The men lost Colton Berry and Garrett Haley from
their ranks.
American Idol returns next
week not only four contestants lighter but thirty minutes
shorter both Tuesday and Wednesday night. |
